Quit smoking… and save money!
Everyone knows that smoking is bad for your health but many people fail to notice that it is also seriously detrimental to your bank balance. Smoking costs the average smoker up to a thousand pounds a year, money that could be put to better use on a car, holiday or new sofa.
Smoking cigarettes is also a constant habit which means the rolling cost of this price could mean thousands in the long run. In these financially difficult times, can you really afford to be spending all of this money on your smoking habit?
It is all well and good saying you should just “quit smoking” but the addictive element of smoking, the nicotine, can cause huge problems with withdrawal symptoms if you suddenly stop smoking after a long period of time. Not only this but it is very, very difficult to give up smoking. Cigarettes are highly addictive and giving up needs more than just will power.
This is why methods of nicotine replacement have been developed, to help soothe difficult cravings by providing the body with a nicotine hit. The aim is to wean your body off of the nicotine, hence off of the cigarettes, so that the burden, both in terms of health and financially, can finally be lifted.
One nicotine replacement solution is the electronic cigarette. E cigs, as they are sometimes known, look like regular cigarettes but only provide the body with the nicotine rather than anything other of the chemicals that normal cigarettes contain.
This makes it far healthier to try and quit smoking, as you are sensibly able to control your dose of nicotine and as a result will not experience such severe withdrawal symptoms. The inhaler works on a refill system, where twenty cigarettes equate to one refill. This makes it a far more financially viable option for those who need to cut down on spending.
Other treatments include hypnotism or acupuncture. Both have mixed reviews, and it is a matter of trying out what works best for you. If either of these options do work, then financially you are in a much better position as the one-off cost would be very beneficial on the wallet.
If you were to combine any of these methods with some strong will power, you are far more likely to give up your smoking habit.
The savings you would make are not only financial ones, but health and social ones too. Your body will benefit from a cleaner lifestyle and your breathing will be far clearer, as well as the likelihood of you contracting cancer cutting in half.
