I Knew It! I Knew it Wouldn’t Work!
I got duped again. Sad to admit but I fell for it; I should have known it wouldn’t really work for me. I bet you know what I am talking about. Have you seen those diet ads by different Hollywood actresses and models like Jane Fonda, Christie Brinkley and many more? Well, I’m not talking about the same exact people here but I admit I got duped by a Hollywood celebrity who made public her weight loss program and I thought it will work with me as well.
I don’t want to make excuses but I fell for it because I’ve seen that celebrity before and she was really big. After seeing her lose about 30 pounds I felt like somebody who wants to embrace a new religion – her diet religion. And so I listened to her diet doctrines with hopeful eyes believing it will work for me as well. Aggh! I should have known it was too good and too easy to be true.
It was obvious but I have chosen to close my eyes on the fact that the celebrity has no nutritional or medical training at all. She may have sounded genuine or even knowledgeable about food and nutrition but she sounded more like a good sales pitch. Too bad I realized that too late.
Now I am suffering from all the side effects of my chosen diet plan – diarrhea, stomach pains, not to mention I feel so weak and lethargic all this just to lose weight fast. Worse, after going back to my normal diet, I am gaining back the old fats again that I thought won’t come back. But what makes it more unbearable is the fact that my family and friends are talking about my misfortune every time, making an example out of me, thinking I don’t mind at all.
Yes. I guess I’m back to square one. I can’t say I wasted time, money and effort though. I learned my lesson well. Before taking on any of those diet plans I will now consult my doctor or my nutritionist so I will know if I am about to make a fool of myself again.
Wonder Protein Please Make Me Thin
There are so many articles in the internet that will tell you not to eat this and not to eat that to lose weight fast. There are articles too that will tell you to eat this and eat that to become lean and thin – this is one of those articles.
I’m talking about protein.
Protein is actually magical. It doesn’t only provide you abrupt and instant feeling of satiation or being full it also keeps doing that for longer intervals. Protein will also help stop your craving for sugar which is actually fantastic for me because I have this extreme sweet tooth. You see, protein will not only help in my endeavour to lose weight but will also keep me healthy.
Ever since I found out this fact about proteins (not that they don’t teach this in school, I might just forgotten), I have been reading a lot about it online. This is how I found out that to be very effective I shouldn’t just eat any type of protein, my diet should include only the highest quality of protein there is.
Turkey and chicken are two good examples of high quality protein, but of course, that’s after you get rid of the skin. These meats are low in fat and can be cooked any way I want it (uh, maybe except for fried) – roasted, broiled, grilled, sautéed; you name it!
Fishes like tuna, salmon, halibut mackerel, and more as well as shellfish like crab and lobster are good sources of high quality protein as well. Again, I can cook these any way, except frying.
Surprisingly, red meat is a good source of high quality protein too. But I should be very careful in choosing the part that is lean and contains lesser cholesterol. Round cut sounds ok, top sirloin and round flank are fine as well.
Well, there are lots of other foods where I can get high quality protein but I have to be careful not to overdo it. Maximum intake is 35% of my whole diet. I shouldn’t eat an all-protein diet alone. Hey! It’s not good to ignore those other delicious treats out there!
Alternative quit smoking methods
Smokers use many different products to help them through quitting their habit. However, more alternative methods have become popular as people look for new ways to help beat the withdrawal effects of smoking.
These methods include things like hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy attributes smoking to a problem with the mind and therefore looks at breaking down mental barriers.
The hypnotherapist will put the smoker into a deep trance and through a series of suggestive techniques; the aim is to break through the smoking wall so that the smoker is free from the constant feeling of needing a cigarette. One smoker said, “I really recommend hypnotherapy. I have been a smoker for over ten years and could never be strong enough to stop the habit. With the hypnotherapy sessions, which lasted the course of two months, I gradually began to feel like I
regained control of my health and my mind. Nicotine no longer ruled it.”
Other alternative methods include acupuncture. This is the process of unblocking energy points through the body, such as on the back or wrists, by using long, thin needles. The thought behind this is that smoking is a habit which is clogging up the smoker’s body, and should be freed so that the energy can flow once again. It sees smoking as an “illness” which can be cured by unclogging it.
One smoker who has tried this technique said, “Me and my husband tried this method. It worked for me but not for him. I think it really does depend on the individual. He went on to try nicotine replacement methods which worked a lot better for him, such as the electronic cigarette. The e cigarette meant that he was gradually weaning himself off of the nicotine and he found it a much easier process to endure. For me, acupuncture helped me to feel like smoking didn’t reign my body and it put me back in control. I think each and every smoker has their own battle.”
