Another major health concern with smoking is heart problems. The heart can struggle to cope under the pressure of the effects that smoking has had on the body. Many smokers have had stroke and heart attacks because of their excessive smoking.

Smokers who are trying to recover from their habit usually try and set out a smoking schedule that helps them to gently and sensibly withdraw from cigarettes.

Nicotine replacement methods might also be used to help throughout this process. Using products such as the electronic cigarette, or the e cigarette, is beneficial as it allows the smoker to withdraw from their nicotine cravings gradually.

Similarly, nicotine gums and patches are used to help smokers through the difficult withdrawal symptoms that can be endured.

Other smokers choose more alterative methods to help them through their quit smoking process. These are methods such as hypnotherapy and acupuncture, which are thought to help the body and mind heal itself from the habits of smoking.

With tax and VAT rising, many products in the UK are becoming more expensive. This includes cigarettes, which is not only an unhealthy habit but a costly one too.

According to a study someone can save around £1000 a year by not smoking. This money could go to much better use elsewhere, such as a holiday, new car or help towards meeting utility bills and other household costs.

However, many smokers just find it too difficult to quit the habit and the financial gain from doing so is not enough motivation.

One way to help with the burden is by trying the electronic cigarette. The e cigarette, or e cig, is an inhaler which works on a refill system. One refill is the equivalent of twenty cigarettes which means that it is a much more cost effective way of smoking.

People use the e cigarette for many reasons. Some people use it when trying to quit, as the product can be used to wean off of the addictive nicotine.

Other people simply use it as a healthier way to smoke, as it does not contain carbon monoxide, tar, or other chemicals which are harmful when smoking normal cigarettes.

It is really a case of catering a quit smoking schedule to the individual. Everyone is different and tolerance levels will therefore change accordingly. One of the best things to do is quit with friends, who are able to support you throughout the process and encourage you when things get difficult.
