A Weight Loss Contest? Count Me In!
Of course I want to enlist myself! Wit body like mine, who wouldn’t want to enter a weight loss contest that is sponsored and funded by a known hospital and a daily newspaper? This is a team up of a medical facility and an information carrier after all and so it means the weight loss endeavours will be healthy and smart.
The contest will last for four months which is to my standards, fast enough. Meaning, the contestants will have to lose weight fast by utilizing only the safest and the healthiest methods available. Now that’s my kind of game! Sad that I was too late for the registration, I seriously wanted to join the contest. Why? I’ll give you three simple reasons.
First, I am fat. Okay, that’s an understatement, I am very fat. I have been fat all my life. Nah, that’s an exaggeration. I have been fat for like five years now and I have been ridiculed, humiliated, and frustrated for all those years. But I actually have no one to blame but myself, I brought the shame to myself. I have tried to shed off pounds to no avail. Maybe a competition would allow me to lose weight fast. And this is not just an ordinary competition! It is a healthy one with the backing of a medical institution so it won’t be dangerous for my health at all.
Second, just like any contest, this comes with awards and prizes. As if losing weight is not award enough. It’s already a prize for me. But there’s more! Monetary prizes will be given to those who have lost the highest percentage of weight within the four month period. I’m definitely in! It’s actually a win-win situation here because even if I don’t win the monetary prizes, I sure will win a new me – a new eating habit, a healthier me, a leaner me.
Third, my efforts will be chronicled and publicized! It’s not what you think. I never really aim to become a big star or be famous just because I lost weight fast. Let’s just say, it is my way of getting back, to let those who ridiculed me in the past know that I am not a doormat that they can just stand on anytime. I have feelings too and I can act on my situation as well. Seeing me in the newspaper would help me get my message across fast and effectively.
But then again, I already lost my chance to enter the contest, too late for me. I guess I will have to do it myself. It’ll be hard but I guess I can find other ways to motivate myself to do it. Sigh, I do wish there’s a lot easier way to do it, I sure wanted to lose weight fast.
I Knew It! I Knew it Wouldn’t Work!
I got duped again. Sad to admit but I fell for it; I should have known it wouldn’t really work for me. I bet you know what I am talking about. Have you seen those diet ads by different Hollywood actresses and models like Jane Fonda, Christie Brinkley and many more? Well, I’m not talking about the same exact people here but I admit I got duped by a Hollywood celebrity who made public her weight loss program and I thought it will work with me as well.
I don’t want to make excuses but I fell for it because I’ve seen that celebrity before and she was really big. After seeing her lose about 30 pounds I felt like somebody who wants to embrace a new religion – her diet religion. And so I listened to her diet doctrines with hopeful eyes believing it will work for me as well. Aggh! I should have known it was too good and too easy to be true.
It was obvious but I have chosen to close my eyes on the fact that the celebrity has no nutritional or medical training at all. She may have sounded genuine or even knowledgeable about food and nutrition but she sounded more like a good sales pitch. Too bad I realized that too late.
Now I am suffering from all the side effects of my chosen diet plan – diarrhea, stomach pains, not to mention I feel so weak and lethargic all this just to lose weight fast. Worse, after going back to my normal diet, I am gaining back the old fats again that I thought won’t come back. But what makes it more unbearable is the fact that my family and friends are talking about my misfortune every time, making an example out of me, thinking I don’t mind at all.
Yes. I guess I’m back to square one. I can’t say I wasted time, money and effort though. I learned my lesson well. Before taking on any of those diet plans I will now consult my doctor or my nutritionist so I will know if I am about to make a fool of myself again.
Wonder Protein Please Make Me Thin
There are so many articles in the internet that will tell you not to eat this and not to eat that to lose weight fast. There are articles too that will tell you to eat this and eat that to become lean and thin – this is one of those articles.
I’m talking about protein.
Protein is actually magical. It doesn’t only provide you abrupt and instant feeling of satiation or being full it also keeps doing that for longer intervals. Protein will also help stop your craving for sugar which is actually fantastic for me because I have this extreme sweet tooth. You see, protein will not only help in my endeavour to lose weight but will also keep me healthy.
Ever since I found out this fact about proteins (not that they don’t teach this in school, I might just forgotten), I have been reading a lot about it online. This is how I found out that to be very effective I shouldn’t just eat any type of protein, my diet should include only the highest quality of protein there is.
Turkey and chicken are two good examples of high quality protein, but of course, that’s after you get rid of the skin. These meats are low in fat and can be cooked any way I want it (uh, maybe except for fried) – roasted, broiled, grilled, sautéed; you name it!
Fishes like tuna, salmon, halibut mackerel, and more as well as shellfish like crab and lobster are good sources of high quality protein as well. Again, I can cook these any way, except frying.
Surprisingly, red meat is a good source of high quality protein too. But I should be very careful in choosing the part that is lean and contains lesser cholesterol. Round cut sounds ok, top sirloin and round flank are fine as well.
Well, there are lots of other foods where I can get high quality protein but I have to be careful not to overdo it. Maximum intake is 35% of my whole diet. I shouldn’t eat an all-protein diet alone. Hey! It’s not good to ignore those other delicious treats out there!
