Council urges motorists to change to winter tyres

Author admin    Category Cheap Tyres     Tags

With the recent snowy and icy weather being very problematic for most of the country, roads coming to a standstill and some drivers unable to leave their driveways, Kent County Council, along with other counties, has urged motorists to really think about changing tyres of winter tyres.

The council commented that people just aren’t coping with the amount of snow, even though it had been forecast. Many thousands of schools have been shut, some up to two weeks at a time, leaving students and pupils without anything to do for a chunk of the term.

This simply isn’t acceptable and the council has suggested we follow the example of other Europeans and change our tyres to winter tyres. This means we could function far more as a country when bad weather hits.

Snow ploughs and gritters have been brought out in force, but cars are still unable to cope with the grip on the roads and many motorists have experienced awful conditions on the roads.

One council member commented, “Many people are unprepared for the snow. However, it was forecast for a couple of weeks beforehand and we really should have been more ready to cope with it. Many motorists are put off by purchasing winter tyres because they think it will be expensive.  You should be able to get some good deals on cheap car tyres from local garages and some online retailers also offer discounted car tyres. They are able to offer cheap car tyres because they buy them in such large quantities that they are able to negotiate good prices from their suppliers, meaning the savings are passed onto us.”

If you are looking for cheap tyres for the winter, you can start by doing an online search. There are many online suppliers who can deliver your tyres the next day, and some even send a man out to fit them for you.

This means you do not have to worry about getting to the garage to have them fitted, saving you even more money. The tyres also last for a few years, which mean they also act as an investment. With more snow forecast to hit the UK throughout the winter, it is vital that motorists are better prepared for the bad weather.

Icy roads can be very dangerous as you just don’t have any control over the braking of your car. Even if you drive very slowly, you cannot be sure of the stability for the car over layers of compressed snow and ice. Investing in some cheap tyres for the winter would be the best option to ensure that you are prepared for the big freeze.

Quit smoking… and save money!

Author admin    Category Electronic Cigarette     Tags

Everyone knows that smoking is bad for your health but many people fail to notice that it is also seriously detrimental to your bank balance. Smoking costs the average smoker up to a thousand pounds a year, money that could be put to better use on a car, holiday or new sofa.

Smoking cigarettes is also a constant habit which means the rolling cost of this price could mean thousands in the long run. In these financially difficult times, can you really afford to be spending all of this money on your smoking habit?

It is all well and good saying you should just “quit smoking” but the addictive element of smoking, the nicotine, can cause huge problems with withdrawal symptoms if you suddenly stop smoking after a long period of time. Not only this but it is very, very difficult to give up smoking. Cigarettes are highly addictive and giving up needs more than just will power.

This is why methods of nicotine replacement have been developed, to help soothe difficult cravings by providing the body with a nicotine hit. The aim is to wean your body off of the nicotine, hence off of the cigarettes, so that the burden, both in terms of health and financially, can finally be lifted.

One nicotine replacement solution is the electronic cigarette. E cigs, as they are sometimes known, look like regular cigarettes but only provide the body with the nicotine rather than anything other of the chemicals that normal cigarettes contain.

This makes it far healthier to try and quit smoking, as you are sensibly able to control your dose of nicotine and as a result will not experience such severe withdrawal symptoms. The inhaler works on a refill system, where twenty cigarettes equate to one refill. This makes it a far more financially viable option for those who need to cut down on spending.

Other treatments include hypnotism or acupuncture. Both have mixed reviews, and it is a matter of trying out what works best for you. If either of these options do work, then financially you are in a much better position as the one-off cost would be very beneficial on the wallet.

If you were to combine any of these methods with some strong will power, you are far more likely to give up your smoking habit.

The savings you would make are not only financial ones, but health and social ones too. Your body will benefit from a cleaner lifestyle and your breathing will be far clearer, as well as the likelihood of you contracting cancer cutting in half.

Why quit smoking?

Author admin    Category Electronic Cigarette     Tags

If you have been smoking for the majority of your life, you may think that there is no point in quitting now. However, contrary to this popular viewpoint, from the first day you go without a cigarette you can improve your health.

After a week of not smoking, your lungs will have cleared dramatically from the start of the week. Your blood pressure will go down as your arteries become less clogged with tar. You will feel more awake, although still experiencing cravings, your body starts to recover even if you have been smoking for years.

It is at this point when many smokers fall off the bandwagon and go back to smoking. At this stage, nicotine replacement therapies can help to control those nasty cravings. Patches and gums can be used, or even the electronic cigarette can be tried.

The e cig is a battery operated inhaler refill system which supplied you with nicotine but also gives you something to do with your hands. After years of smoking, it can be difficult to quit the habit of physically holding a cigarette; the e cigarette helps overcome this by imitating a normal cigarette. The vapour given off by the inhaler is harmless to anyone who breathes it in- unlike cigarettes which emit thousands of chemicals and create passive smoking, which can lead to heightened asthma and other breathing problems.

After a month of not smoking, your body will already have recovered from many years worth of smoking abuse. Your heart will be able to pump more blood round the body and your chances of contracting lung cancer are cut. Cravings may still be experienced, which is why it is important to be sensible and keep taking nicotine replacements to aid the recovery process.

The key is to being realistic, there is no point aiming to be smoke-free within a week because it is impossible for the body to achieve this. The withdrawals would be so severe you could end up doing yourself more damage in the long run.

Lin Reynolds, aged 58, commented “having smoked most of my life it was such a part of my routine I never thought I would quit smoking. I was determined after one Christmas when I couldn’t keep up with my Grandson for being out of breath that I needed to stop, for good. With the help of the e cig, I managed to cut down sensibly over a six month period. I noticed the difference within the first week, and even more so when the cravings start to ease up. I can now chase my Grandson round the house and garden without feeling like I am gasping for air! It is such a relief to feel like this again.”
